As we drove to Bandelier we stopped at a visitor center in the town of White Stone. It was at the visitor center where I was told that the view of the Rio Grande was worth stopping at the local park to see. So we drove a few minutes away from the center to the park where the view was absolutely worth the stop.
From the park, Bandelier was within an hours drive. Once inside the National Park, we had to drop off the little guy and drive down into the canyon where we were able to hike through the old Pueblo village and up into several homes made from the soft canyon walls. With the gate closing at five, we had about an hour to hike up that led to a Kiva, a ceremonial underground building used by the Pueblos years ago. The 140 ft hike was exciting, climbing up only ladders and walking through tiny walkways.
In record time we drove through the gates a few minutes before five, picked up the little guy and headed South toward Pecos National Monument.
