We arrived at Zion National Park early in the morning and immediately hopped on the shuttle (the only way to see the park this time of year). The shuttle is a 80 minute round trip. As soon as the shuttle left the parking lot Jason and I became very skeptical about our apparel. Everyone else was layered in warm sweatshirts and long pants while we, on the other hand, were in shorts and t-shirts.
A few stops later, we saw rain begin to hit the windows and realized that we were very unprepared. Since flash flooding is very common in Zion, we decided to stay on and tour the park by shuttle. Luckily, by the time we arrived at the car the rain had stopped. We then made lunch, bundled in warm waterproof clothing and hopped back on the shuttle. This time around we had stopped and got off the shuttle to hike around. Luckily, it stayed dry the rest of the day and we were able to hike until the sunset.
The campground at Zion was full so we ended up leaving after dinner toward our next destination, Cedar Breaks National Monument.
