Once the bypass bridge opened we made sure that Hoover Dam would be our next stop after Las Vegas. So the next morning we headed straight to the magnificent view of Americas largest dam.
It was a nice walk from the parking lot to the bridge with beautifully finished exhibits, explaining how and why the bridge was created, along the way. Walking all the way to the end of the bridge and back gave us a fantastic perspective of the actually size of the dam and allowed us to walk from Nevada to Arizona.
Stopping to read all the exhibits and take tons of photos, it took us about an hour and a half to walk the bridge. After giving a few tours of the little guy in the parking lot, we drove down the winding road to and over the dam. Since we were towing we ended up finding a parking space on the other side of the bridge. Having to walk a little bit more to the bridge was fine, not only did it saved us a few dollars but it also gave us a fantastic view of Lake Mead.
Compared to the view from the bridge, walking the dam definitely made it seem smaller, that is until you look down. It really is a monumental master piece.
The rest of the day and a bit of the next day was spent driving through Nevada to Utah, passing through a tiny bit of Arizona.
