Capitol Reef National Park

Leaving after lunch, we drove from Bryce Canyon to Capitol Reef. The changing leaves and beautiful vistas of the country between the two parks made the drive very quick. Before we knew it we had reached the rocky mountain range at Capitol Reef.

With an hour or two at most of sunlight left, we quickly dropped off the little guy at the visitor’s center and dashed to the scenic drive of the park.

Wanting to see everything before the sun set I made only a few stops for photos. Once we had arrived at the end of the 10 mile we decided to continue, a few more miles, down the off road portion, through a chasm.

The dirt road wasn’t too terrible and our Corolla was able to handle it with ease. It was an amazing drive, with just a it of sunlight left in the sky, the rocks produced magnificent shadows, creating a new life to the whole chasm.

I was absolutely fascinated by the illusions that the light and shadows played on the rocks. Jason ended up driving behind me as I walked back out of the chasm taking photos of almost everything.

Once back in the car, we decided to make some dinner at the visitors center and call it a night at the parks campground.
